PCA Compression

The following animation illustrates the compressibility of motion capture with PCA.

The mocap database is first compressed using PCA. Each motion is then represented as a series of coordinates in a sub-space defined by the extracted Principal Components (PCs).

This examples shows the gradual reconstruction of a short walking sequence. At each iteration, the next biggest PCs is appended to reconstruct the original walking sequence. The animation shows that the original walking sequence is accurately reconstructed with only a few PCs.
